On Thursday we headed out of D.C. to Lancaster, PA. We checked into our campground and spent some time swimming in the pool. We headed out to the town of Intercourse on Friday to look at all of the shops. Brett recently sold his IT business in order to start up a furniture building business. He wanted to get a closer look at some Amish tables. :)
We stopped into a pretzel factory while there and the kids all got to try their hand at hand twisting some pretzels.
Then, it was back to the campground for some more swimming.
Saturday was the Big Families and Friends Picnic. It was wonderful to get to finally meet some women that I have talked to online with for years, many of whom are also adoptive parents to special needs children. The kids had a ton of fun playing with all of the other children that were there.
It was a chilly day, but the sun did come out and warm things up every now and again.
We have been home for a week now and I am still trying to finish up these posts. :) Life has been busy and this trip showed us many things we need to work on within our family. It was a huge blessing to us. If you ever get the chance to step away from your normal everyday life for a larger chunk of time, do it!
