Can anyone guess where I might be going for my birthday?

I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
Revelation 3:8

Why do we worry?
Why do we ever doubt?
Why do I forget what an awesome God I serve?

Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Psalm 37:4,5

We promised that as long as God kept the door open in front of us - even if it was only open a crack at times - we would keep moving forward.  Well, that door that seemed to be closing more and more every day has been swung wide open in the last two days.

I counted this morning more than 40 adoption related emails in my inbox just from yesterday and this morning.  I have no idea how many more Brett and I have sent out.  We have been filling out and sending papers every direction.

The result of all of this and the hard work of both of our agencies is........
We may be headed to Russia in just a few weeks!!!!

What we thought was impossible God has done.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

A long awaited adoption update

Things are finally moving forward again.  Our adoption agency has reviewed our homestudy and it is now being finalized!  We are going crazy sending forms today trying to make sure everyone has everything they need.

Next up, getting our visas and finishing our dossier while we wait for USCIS approval.

Please pray that things really pick up speed and the USCIS approval comes FAST!

Live By Faith

I finished re-watching this sermon by John Piper.  At this point in our journey, as one hurdle after another comes before us, I think I needed to be reminded that we are doing this in faith.

It's not about us.  It doesn't matter what the outcome is.  We need to keep moving forward in faith that this is what God called us to do.

Speaking of "being called", I loved this definition of a calling by Robert Speer:
"The knowledge of a need and the ability to meet that need - this constitues a 'calling.'"

In case you don't know of the need...

Nikita needs a mommy and daddy to hold him.

Can you imagine waking up to see Darren's sweet smile every day?

How about beautiful little Maeve?

But maybe you don't have the ablility to meet their needs?
Get your list of reasons together of why YOU can't help these little ones and then go here to read a post that may change your mind.
